Renee Whelan

Dr. Renee Whelan is an Assistant Professor at William Paterson University and Program Director of WPU at MCCC for the Department of Teacher Education: PreK-12. She has approximately 25 years of early childhood educational experience, concentrating on curriculum, assessment, and professional learning as well as years of policy development and budgetary experience. Previously, she worked as the Director of Early Childhood Education for Long Branch Public Schools. Dr. Whelan also worked as a principal, an early childhood education program specialist for the NJ Department of Education, curriculum facilitator/instructional coach, and early childhood teacher.

Professional Interests

Dr. Whelan's research agenda includes early childhood sustainability learning/practices, performance based assessment, early childhood mathematics, and teacher leadership.
