Marie Springer

Professor • Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice

Marie Springer holds a PhD. In Criminal Justice, Policy Oversight and Administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York. Springer currently teaches in the undergraduate Criminal Justice program at William Paterson teaching organized crime, and cybercrime. She also teaches graduate program in Public Management at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Springer also teaches White-collar crime, and Forensic economics in the Department of Economics at John Jay. Her first book: The Politics of Ponzi Schemes: History, Theory and Policy, was the recipient of the Outstanding White-collar crime award for 2021. She specializes in affinity fraud, financial markets frauds, elder fraud and other white-collar financial markets crimes research. Her research continues to build data sets on federal level financial markets crimes. In addition to financial markets research, she also has data sets for research on environmental crimes for future publications. As a volunteer, she has founded and chaired environmental non-profit organizations, is currently secretary in an national organization and vice president in a local wildlife organization. She is also on the Sussex County Open Space Commission for New Jersey.

As a volunteer: National Wildlife Refuges, and bat rescue, and open space preservation.
