Math Facilitator

William Paterson University has a position available for part time Math Facilitator in Academic Foundations.

This position is part-time and requires part-time day time teaching hours.

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of methods, materials, and techniques used to deliver basic math and algebraic concepts
  • Conducts regular assessments of student performance and maintains up to date records of student progress and activities; track trends in usage, prepare various reports
  • Instruction including hands on and theory, classroom management, and administrative tasks that may include reports, syllabus and lesson plan development.
  • Ensure that course is taught in accordance with the established syllabi, while following all established deadlines.
  • Experience using multiple approaches to teaching and learning, such as incorporating technology, contextualized instruction, multiple levels, or innovative approaches that support increased student success
  • Skilled in use of technology (interactive lessons, online and hybrid formats, course software such as Blackboard, Zoom, EdReady etc.) to deliver quality instruction
  • Collaborate with faculty and other WPU staff to strengthen academic support services in the areas of mathematics
  • Provide appropriate referrals to Director, student support services and other university resources as necessary to help students achieve their academic goals
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Must have a sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, special needs, and ethnic backgrounds of college students.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Must be available to teach during the day
     

Preference will be given to applicants who have experience teaching developmental mathematics at the secondary or college level. Teaching experience in a community college setting is preferred, and experience with online instruction is a plus. Strong computer skills are required due to intensive use of an online mathematics course management system. Must be able to work onsite and possibly online as well.
