Help Desk Technician, Part Time

William Paterson University seeks a part time, Help Desk Technician. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing support to the University community in the use of university technology services and maintaining and servicing university computing resources. This position is within Information Technology User Services group and requires the candidate to physically work from our campus in Wayne, NJ.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing technical support to members of the university community; communicating effectively with clients and additional stakeholders, including phone and remote support, as well as in person support. S/he coordinates and oversees student assistants’ job responsibilities; maintains public and internal technical documentation and the IT asset database, and hosts in person and online training sessions on various technical topics.
Salary range based on qualification, starting at $18.00 per hour; estimated 25 hours per week.
The selected candidate will be customer focused, detail-oriented, agile, self-driven and demonstrate the interpersonal and communication skills necessary to thrive in a team environment. Candidates should have a minimum of 6 months of experience in a combination of: answering support requests via call and helpdesk ticket queue systems; troubleshooting Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, Android, Microsoft Active Directory, Office 365, and network connectivity issues; imaging, backup and deployment of computers and software packages; and repairing and maintaining computer hardware. Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds. A valid drivers’ license is required.
Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year of experience in an Information Technology or helpdesk environment, preferably at a higher education institution. Experience working with Microsoft SCCM, large-scale computer deployments, Microsoft Office 365, and using remote troubleshooting tools are preferred.
