William Paterson University seeks a highly qualified professional to serve as Assistant Director in the Office of Employment Equity and Diversity.

Reporting to the Chief Diversity Officer/Director of the Employment Equity and Diversity, the Assistant Director and Deputy Title IX Coordinator will be responsible for investigating discrimination, harassment and Title IX complaints; and assisting the Director in ensuring that the University’s affirmative action, non-discrimination, equal opportunity and diversity policies are compliant with relevant laws and regulations. The Assistant Director will also supervise and coordinate the work for assigned classified employees. 

The successful candidate will provide guidance, direction and support to faculty/non-faculty search committees, including assisting with efforts to increase the members of women and underrepresented groups in the applicant pool. He/she will also assist in monitoring and recommending recruitment strategies designed to produce more diverse applicant pools.

He/she will investigate complaints of discrimination, sexual harassment, Title IX and/or retaliation brought to the attention of the Office of Employment Equity and Diversity. As part of the investigative process, the Assistant Director will research case law and prepare reports that contain findings and recommendations, if applicable. The successful candidate will also develop and facilitate training programs and materials inclusive of diversity, sexual harassment and the university's anti-discrimination policies and procedures for newly hired faculty and staff.  In addition, he/she will serve as the University’s Deputy Title IX Coordinator and will act in the absence of the Title IX Coordinator, if necessary.

The Assistant Director will also develop and facilitate training programs inclusive of diversity, sexual harassment Title IX and the University's anti-discrimination policies and procedures for all faculty/staff/students. He/she will assist as a resource person and provide support to other units within the University community in the development, planning and support of programs that provide greater awareness of equal employment opportunity. 

The successful candidate will complete special projects/assignments and assume responsibility for completing parts of strategic goals or objectives assigned to the Office of Employment Equity and Diversity and serve on University committees and task forces, as needed.  In addition, will assume supervisory responsibility of the office in the absence of the Director and perform other duties/responsibilities necessary to accomplish the goals of the office, as determined by the Director.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. A Master’s degree is preferred.  A minimum of five (5) years of experience investigating discrimination/harassment complaints and/or other workplace related concerns and complaints is also required, as is knowledge of affirmative action/equal opportunity, discrimination, harassment laws and regulations.  The successful candidate will have experience in delivering, planning or preparing training programs. He/she must be proficient with personal computer applications, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite. The successful candidate will also have excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects/assignments simultaneously.
