Reporting to the Director of Graduate Admissions and Enrollment Services, the Assistant Director is responsible for counseling, recruitment admissions and enrollment of graduate students. Principal responsibilities include: assisting in the development of recruitment strategies; advising applicants in the area of Teacher Education and Certification, including Elementary, Middle School and Secondary levels, and varying endorsements; reviewing and evaluating applications and credentials; making recommendations and/or determinations concerning eligibility for graduate programs; planning, organizing and coordinating events; compiling and analyzing data and preparing informative reports. The Assistant Director will work collaboratively with varied constituencies to facilitate the admission and retention of graduate students.

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Higher Education Administration or a field related to the function of the position is required. A Master’s degree is preferred. In addition, the selected candidate must possess a minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in admissions in a higher education environment, preferably with graduate or adult programs. Knowledge of and/or experience in Teacher Education or a related field is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate past accomplishments and success in the admissions arena. Must be available to work evenings and weekends when necessary for special events and programming. Driver’s license valid in New Jersey as well as the ability to travel inter and intra state is required. Excellent analytical and communication skills (written and oral) as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a high degree of professionalism are required. Knowledge of BANNER and CRM technologies is strongly preferred. Familiarity with computer databases, information systems and technologies and the utilization of social media for recruitment are essential.
