Angie Yoo Professor • Department of Communication View CV Website Kyung-Hyan (Angie) Yoo, Ph.D., is a Professor of Communication at William Paterson University and Director of the SMART (Social Media Applications, Research, and Teaching) Lab. Her interdisciplinary research bridges communication, technology, and consumer behavior, focusing on electronic word-of-mouth, online trust, social media engagement, persuasive technology, and digital decision-making.Dr. Yoo has published extensively in top-tier journals such as Public Relations Review, Computers in Human Behavior, and Information Technology & Tourism, and co-authored the book Persuasive Recommender Systems (Springer). Her work has been supported by organizations including TripAdvisor, the U.S. Department of Education, and the Academy of Korean Studies.She has held multiple leadership roles at William Paterson University, including Graduate Program Director and Interim Assistant Chair, and has been led in launching new academic programs in public relations and integrated marketing communication. As Director of the SMART Lab, she leads initiatives that connect students with real-world digital communication projects, including collaborations with local businesses and international partners.Dr. Yoo is also a frequent presenter at international conferences and an active reviewer for numerous academic journals and funding agencies. Her contributions to cross-cultural communication, digital literacy, and student engagement have earned her multiple grants and recognitions, including the Fulbright-Hays GPA award, SEED Korean Studies Grant, and the IFITT/JITT Thesis Excellence Award.
