My name is Mary Ellen Levine. I am a full-time nursing faculty member here at William Paterson University. With over 30 years of experience, my passion is in medical/surgical nursing, hospice and end of life care, with additional experience in cardiac and respiratory acute care, pediatrics, home care, and school nursing.

I earned an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Bergen Community College, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing at Dominican College, School Nurse/Health Educator Certificate from Caldwell College, a Master's degree in Nursing Education from Walden University, and Doctor of Nursing Practice from William Paterson University. I am certified as a hospice and palliative nurse through the Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association (HPNA). As an adjunct faculty, I have the pleasure of assisting nursing students in their academic achievements.

I was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society for Nursing, am a member of Region 1 of the New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA), and active member of the American Nurses Association. I have served as NJSNA Region 1 VP for Education, Region 1 President-elect, President, and Past President, NJSNA Vice President. and was elected to President-elect in 2019. I am currently serving as Immediate Past President of NJSNA. I serve on various committees, including the Health Nurse Healthy New Jersey, Congress on Policy and Practice, the Legislative Committee and the Joint Protocol Steering Group. I am a member of the Philippine Nurses Association of New Jersey, Hospice and Palliative Nursing Association, New Jersey Consortium of Nurse Educators, and proudly support many nursing associations. I have published an article, “When New Nurses Talk, Nursing Organizations Listen,” in the January issue of Nursing 2020. My DNP final project was titled, "Palliative Care Self-Competence: An Examination of Registered Nurses in the Acute Care Hospital During the COVID-19 Pandemic."
