Richard Huizar

Professor • Political, Legal and Urban Studies

Dr. Richard Huizar is Associate Professor of Political Science, and Latin American and Latinx Studies at William Paterson University. Professor Huizar obtained an MA and PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara. During the academic year 2012-2013, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Hamilton College where he taught Latin American Politics and Mexican Politics. Furthermore, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Muhlenberg College (2013-2014) where he taught Comparative Politics, and International Relations. Dr. Huizar’s research focuses on the politics of the oil sector in Latin America, international political economy, Latinx politics, and organized crime in Latin America. In April 2018, Dr. Huizar received the Arnold Speert Students First Award from the Student Government Association (SGA) of William Paterson University.
