I was born and reared in the Land of Lincoln (Illinois) and have been a contented resident of New Jersey since 1993. My wife Lori and I are the proud parents of ten wonderful persons, and three beautiful grandchildren.

Professional Interests

I am interested in the evolution of race relations in the United States since the Civil War, the impact of the Civil War on families, the development of voting rights, and the role that the United States has played in global history.

I teach courses in contemporary world history, American history, family history, and labor history.

I am an advocate for using digital technologies to comprehend and disseminate information about the past.

I believe that a deep understanding of history is an essential attribute for every person who wants to promote equitable and just social development and mutual understanding among groups and peoples
