Phil Clifford Professor • Department of Music Phil Clifford is an engineer, educator, and arts advocate embedded in the industry with a professional history of handling concert production, live performance recording, and studio projects.Highlights of Phil’s work history include mixing monitors for Aretha Franklin, mixing front of house for B.B. King, touring with Todd Rundgren as a backline technician, system technician, and monitor engineer, and working directly with many other major touring artists. As a live recording engineer, Phil has been capturing classical and contemporary works written for chamber music and large ensembles. In an educational environment, Phil has directly supported and hosted masterclasses, performances, and other public events with Grammy award winning artists such as Béla Fleck, Rhiannon Giddens, Eric Whitacre, and Arturo Sandoval, among many others.Phil is committed to expanding his expertise as an active professional in the audio industry. Beyond his dedication to sound engineering arts, Phil is a dedicated father of two boys, an avid outdoorsman, and an advocate for the arts in his local community.
