Professional Interests

I immigrated to United States of America in 1984. I was initially very homesick and wanted to go back. I spent two weeks with my aunt and uncle who were both practicing physician in Poughkeepsie. They had recommended change in career related to healthcare like radiography and or cardiology. Instead I decided on Nursing. My father was a very very generous, caring and a giving man. I have some of his similar traits. Hence I decided on Nursing as a new career. I wanted to achieve highest possible education in the field and my goals were set way back 1985. I worked fulltime in K-Mart and went to County College Morris fulltime. During my senior semester I started working as patient care technician in critical care unit at Dover General Hospital. I received my Associates in Applied Sciences in nursing from County College of Morris in June of 1988.
I met my wife during RN orientation at the then Dover General hospital. We were the first couple of the Saint Clare’s Health System. We started a family, and had to put hold on further education. When the time was right I subsequently was able to complete my graduate study from William Paterson University (WPU) with Master’s of Science in Nursing (NP Track) in 2001 And also the practice doctorate as the first cohort here at WPU. “I know I started right”.
I am currently working as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) as a hospitalist and I also teach at County College of Morris as Associate Professor in Nursing and Part time / Full time at William Paterson University. I am currently board certified as an APN and have national certification in Critical Care. From 1996 -2001, I also worked as a Nurse Epidemiologist with certification in infection control and published two articles in the American Journal of Infection Control. I enjoy bedside nursing as well as teaching. I will continue to work as a hospitalist APN and continue to teach nursing
I graduated with my DNP, Doctorate in Nursing Practice following successful review of my practice dissertation from William Paterson University. I did a podium presentation at the DNP conference in the fall of 2014. I am very proud of my achievements. This will also enlighten my children that pursuance of knowledge has no age limit and there is nothing “Impossible”. Take the “imp” out of impossible and look at impossible as I’m Possible (Squire Rushnell in “When God Winks”).
We are the family in healthcare. I am truly blessed to have wonderful family my wife and two children. My wife Ngawang is an OR nurse and has been in the system for 29 years. My Daughter Natasha graduated from Rutgers and has successfully passed her NCLEX and completed her graduate studies here at WPU. My son Akash is also an RN and is working in MMH Atlantic Health in CPACU and completed the program at WPU for RN-BSN. Indeed we are the family in Healthcare.
