July 18 - 21: Lawmakers (Grades 9 - 12)

Let’s take a deeper look at how laws are made. In this class we will cover the Legislative Brach of government – the lawmakers.  Students will learn how laws are made through a step-by-step process to understand the basic function of the U.S. Congress. We will investigate current issues arising in both the House of Representatives and the Senate and follow some of them through the process of becoming a law. As a group, we will become Lawmakers! By the end of the week, you will work with your classmates to prepare a law that you feel is in the best interest of the American people. How does your group feel from each argument that could be made against and for your law? Learn how to examine on a larger scale what impact these new laws could be on those around you.
