Music Performance 7/14-7/26/19

  • 26th Annual Jazz Workshop (Commuters) 7/14-7/20/19| 9:00am - 9:00pm|

Experience an award-winning tradition!

Our 26th annual Summer Jazz Workshop is now open to all ages, 14 and older.

The Workshop offers a weeklong intensive and immersive experience for beginner, intermediate, and advanced instrumentalists or vocalists. In-depth knowledge of jazz or jazz improvisation is not required.

The SUMMER JAZZ WORKSHOP provides:

Seven intense days of improvisation and performance for students age 14 and older

The option to commute or reside on campus; adult participants (18 and older) must commute*

Daily intensive 3-hour ensemble rehearsals; improvisation, arranging, and jazz history classes with outstanding faculty and staff

Private lessons and master classes

World-renowned jazz artists in nightly concerts and meet-the-artist sessions

An evening at a New York City jazz club

A final concert with students and resident faculty

*All participants, both commuters and residents, can take advantage of the University’s practice facilities, food court and cafeteria, and recreational activities.

The William Paterson Summer Jazz Workshop is sponsored by: the School of Continuing and Professional Education, the Department of Music, and the College of the Arts and Communication.

 

  • 6th Annual Audio Recording Workshop (Commuters) 7/22-7/26/19| 9:00am - 4:00pm|

Learn about the art and practice of recording from industry professionals.  Participants will have hands-on experience in a professional recording studio and take part in recording and mixing sessions.  Students will also learn about running a recording session, microphone techniques, improving room acoustics, developing critical listening skills, tips on using DAW software and computer interface, signal processing, how to polish a mix, and careers in audio.  The program will end at noon on Friday. The Audio Recording Workshop is for students who have completed 8th grade.
