SAT Verbal: Get into the SAT Mindset
Get ready for the SAT’s writing and critical reading portion as you strengthen your test-taking skills by increasing your vocabulary, reading, writing, and analyzing skills to receive a score that reflects your ability. Other tools to be covered include: time-management, overview of all the sections and scoring techniques, discussions and strategies to reduce anxiety, and tricks that will increase your score and boost your confidence. Getting into the SAT mindset will seem simple after taking this course.
HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION TEST REQUIREMENTS
Students in the graduating classes of 2017, 2018 and 2019 will be able to meet graduation requirements in language arts and math in the following ways:
1. Achieve a passing score on a PARCC* English Language Arts Assessment in grades 9, 10, or 11, and in Algebra I, Geometry, or Algebra II.
If they do not pass the PARCC test, they can:
2. Get a passing score on a substitute competency test. Acceptable tests include:
SAT Critical Reading and/or Math - passing score at least 400
ACT Reading and/or math - passing score 16
ASVAB-AFQT - passing score 30
Accuplacer-write placer - passing score 8
Accuplacer Math, Elementary Algebra - passing score 76
3. NJDOE Portfolio Appeal: Districts can submit for review portfolios of students who do not demonstrate competencies through the PARCC or a substitute test in language arts and/or math.
