Phlebotomy Technician (PTC)

The Phlebotomy Technician Certification (PTC) program at William Paterson University is a comprehensive, hands-on experience designed to prepare students for the PTC certification exam through the American Medical Certification Association.
The cost of this program includes the Certification exam through AMCA as well as the specimen collection materials and textbook.
Students are required to have their own malpractice insurance and bring their own own scrubs to wear for class (Green/Blue).
CPR and BLS certifications are strongly recommended.
Students in this program will be instructed in topics such as:
- Professionalism and Regulatory Compliance
- Infection Control and Safety
- Patient Identification, Assessment and Site Preparation
- Equipment Selection and Maintenance
- Collection of Blood and Non-Blood Specimens
- Specimen Processing and Transportation
