(Grades 9 to 12) Introduction to Business

Introduction to Business

The high school students will be given a pre-course survey to understand their personal goals and objectives which will allow me to further tailor the course to the needs and interests of the class.

I. Introduction

  • The Introduction to Business class for the High School students will allow them to understand the organizational structure of businesses and corporations and their day-to-day operations. Upon the completion of this course, the high school class can begin to think about their own personal business objectives and determine how to apply these in real life. 

II. Objectives

  1. The students will be able to learn specifics of how businesses and corporations operate on a day-to-day basis (accounting, marketing, operations, finance, and management)
  2. Students will be proficient on business terminology and language used in the business world 
  3. Students will engage in decisions revolving around business ethics and explore the difficult decisions that managers/executives face 
  4. The class will be able to identify various career options and trends applicable to them 

III. Activity

  • Monthly Budget: develop a realistic monthly income and learn budgeting 
  • Assets and Liabilities: understand what contributes to increase in personal assets (net worth) and liabilities 
  • Taxes: learn how the taxation system operates and why we pay taxes

 

This Class runs for 4 weeks IN-PERSON: 11/13/21, 11/20/21, 12/4/21, 12/11/21

COVID Protocol: All students, vaccinated and unvaccinated, are required to wear a mask at all time.
