Hitting a Grand Slam on the NJSLA-M 10/24/19 (Non-PDS Schools Only)

Target Audience: Teachers of Mathematics- Grades 7 and 8 and Math Supervisors                                                                                                                                                                      

Description: Twenty-first century learning requires students to make meaningful connections in mathematics.  Topics in middle school mathematics will be addressed that shift the focus of teaching around rich tasks utilizing the You-We-I model.  Pedagogical strategies and techniques that help students develop and foster math power through problem solving, modeling, and critical thinking will be discussed.  Classroom-ready hands-on materials that focus on the development of conceptual understanding and procedural knowledge utilizing these methods will be shared.
