This course is designed to help students gain a broader understanding of social media and how to promote their brands and businesses via social media. The course also focuses heavily on content creation and social media marketing strategies. Students participating in this course will be introduced to terms and concepts, along with practical online applications related to social media marketing and current digital platforms. By the end of this course, students will have a greater comprehension of how to successfully market their business or brand across multiple social media platforms.
Social media platforms are inexpensive and provide individuals with an instant means/online medium to create, publish, edit, and/or access information for targeted audiences. Audiences range from one single person, to millions of users. Students will also learn ways of exploring possibilities and limitations of various social media platforms and will learn how to apply and adapt basic marketing strategies to construct and evaluate social media texts, their impact, and their practical use as a marketing tool.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
Perfect their writing skills in order to create content for social media
Become familiar with social media platforms and their demographics
Have an understanding of content creation including photography and editing
Understand how to utilize social media to promote their brands
Create a social media strategy for businesses
