Raising Kids In Our 24/7 Connected Culture 5/12/14

According to the Pew Institute, 86 percent of girls claimed to be able to conduct on-line chats without their parents’ knowledge, 65 percent of 8-14 year olds have been involved in cyber-bullying and 97 percent of teens use social networking applications, such as Facebook, My Space and chat rooms. Ms. Horowitz will provide an overview of the ever-changing digital media landscape and its influence on the way children and adolescents learn, socialize and play. She will discuss social networking sites, sexting, cyber bullying and offer suggestions for how parents and educators can guide youngsters to make responsible, respectful and safe choices in the digital world and beyond.
