Career and Technical Education (CTE) Alternate Route - Semester Two

CTE 0512 - Professional Responsibility 2 (13.5 hours, 0 credit)

CTE 0522 - The Learner and the Learning Environment 2 (18 hours, 0 credit)

CTE 0532 - The Cycle of Teaching for Planning and Assessment 2 (36 hours, 0 credit)

CTE 0542 - Community of Practice Seminar 4 (20 hours, 0 credit) 


Course Descriptions:

CTE 0512 - Professional Responsibility 2 (13.5 Hours): In the Professional Responsibility 2 module, candidates demonstrate and reflect upon their professional dispositions and ethics and are able to identify academic or behavioral problems and propose solutions for self and others.   CTE teachers will develop strategies to collaborate with stakeholders and incorporate and solicit input on CTE program design and management, incorporating College and Career Readiness Standards and advocacy for CTE programs.

 

CTE 0522 - The Learner and the Learning Environment 2 (18 Hours): The Learner and the Learning Environment Module 2 is designed to introduce CTE teachers to the unique characteristics of adolescent learners. CTE teachers will learn how to modify instruction for diverse learners, implement technology to expand experiences, and engage students in real-world simulations and work-based opportunities.

 

CTE 0532 - The Cycle of Teaching for Planning and Assessment 2 (36 Hours): The Cycle of Teaching for Planning and Assessment 2 builds on and deepens the Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher’s knowledge and application of effective lesson planning and provides opportunities for CTE teachers to present accurate content that supports diverse learners through real world connections. CTE teachers use real-world experiences to aid learners in acquiring and utilizing discipline-specific language while integrating academic subjects. CTE teachers will explore research-based tools to develop engaging lessons and project-based learning that are sequenced to reflect learning objectives. It will delve deeper into formative and summative assessments and how to use technology to monitor student progress. CTE teachers will explore skills in using assessment data to advocate for the CTE program and communicate with stakeholders on behalf of their students.

 

CTE 0542 - Community of Practice Seminar 2 (20 Hours): The Community of Practice/Observation and Reflection Module 2 is a seminar where candidates further develop communication and collaboration skills as they reflect on practice.  Candidates develop an awareness of traditional and non-traditional 21st century life and career goals.
