This Friday: MLK JR Conference and Day of Service

Join us this FRIDAY, January 27 at 9:00 a.m. for WPUNJ's Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Conference and Day of Service.   This is an in-person experience in the UC Ballrooms AB with a hearty breakfast. Service activities benefit: Oasis a Haven for Women and Children; Paterson School 9 Kindergarten Class; Passaic County Catholic Charities Veterans; and Paterson Cares. 

Attendance taken for course and program credits!  Everyone is welcome. Special thanks to Honor's College, Will Power, EOF, Mentors, Student Employees, Greek Leaders, Club members, Change Builders, and New Transfer Students/ January Admit students - we look forward to seeing you!  All student participation also counts as a high level "credit" for the WP LEADS Civic Engagement Badge.  Students are also eligible for credit towards the Social Justice Leadership Badge.  

Online students, faculty, staff, alumni who are not able to join in person can stream the keynote presentation from 9:30 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. see the link belowThe conference experience includes keynote speaker and on-campus civic engagement service activities. 

Keynote Address provided by Jeffrey Dessources followed by panel and discussions led by Dr. Mark Ellis and Dr. Djanna Hill.  Jeffrey Dessources’s Keynote Address centers on what it means for students to be the curators of their knowledge-seeking as change agents and thought leaders. Join us for a meaningful way to engage the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and leave with a deeper sense of what Cultural Responsive Education offers, including the continued relevance of “education of the future” and ways we can plant seeds of change, inspiration, and confidence.
