Dear William Paterson community,
On Monday April 14th, Information Technology will be making a change to the login for WPconnect, Blackboard, Degree Works, and the Banner Admin Pages system in use by various campus departments.
Quick Summary
The systems listed above will switch from the WPconnect style login (known as Shibboleth) to the Microsoft style login currently used by the university's Office 365 and Workday systems. This transition will improve security and reliability while also providing a more seamless login experience by allowing you to remain signed in across all university systems that use the Microsoft style login. As part of this change, it's important to know when to use the 'Stay Signed In?' option - more specific information on that is shared below.
Detailed Information
The Microsoft style login will ask you if you want to 'Stay Signed In?'. Clicking Yes will allow your account to remain signed in to WP systems on the computer being used, reducing the need for repeated logins and multiple Duo authentications. While the "Stay signed in?" option can be convenient, it's important to know when and where to use it.
Signing Out: When you want to completely sign out, clicking Sign Out/Logout in one system that uses the Microsoft login will also sign you out of the other systems that use it.
After this update, there will still be several university systems (including Navigate, Zoom, Cisco Webex, and more) that use the WPconnect-style login. IT will work to transition these systems to the Microsoft login over the coming months.
