The WPU Writing Across the Curriculum (W.A.C.) Program Presents:
Best Practices for Grading and Responding to Student Writing in any Course.
Friday, March 3rd, 1-3 p.m. (Zoom).
In this two-hour workshop, faculty will meet (via Zoom) to explore how we respond, assess, and grade writing in any course or discipline. We will consider strategies for coaching the writing process and for commenting on and grading student writing. As teachers, our goal is to maximize the help we give students while keeping our own workloads manageable. We will discuss how we develop our writing assignments, how we plan our grading criteria and communicate those criteria clearly to students, and how we use comments and other feedback to correct, encourage, praise, and motivate our students to become better writers in our classes.
