The Importance of Juneteenth!

The Black Cultural Center and the Office of Student Diversity & Inclusion is proud to celebrate and acknowledge Juneteenth National Independence Day, celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States. Here are a few ways you can support or learn more about Juneteenth:

• Borrow a book on Juneteenth at your local library or the Cheng Library.
• Watch a documentary.
• Support a black-owned restaurant or business.
• Attend a local festival or parade.
• Be an ally and show respect to those who celebrate.
• Find more ways to educate yourself on the significance of the holiday.
