STATE EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION DAY (SERD) AWARD CEREMONY
This is an opportunity to nominate a colleague for State recognition.
The purpose of the SERD Award Ceremony is to provide a forum that recognizes and honors state government employees for their outstanding contributions, a work ethic that inspires accomplishment, and their commitment to excellence in public service. Nominees will be selected for Governor’s awards based upon the information provided using the following criteria:
Anyone is eligible to nominate an individual employee or group of employees from their office for these awards. To nominate an employee or employees, an online nomination form is available via the link SERD Nomination Form. There is no limit to the number of nominations that may be submitted. If you require a hard copy of the nomination form, please contact Deborah Ackerly at extension 2834 or via email at ackerlyd1@wpunj.edu . All nominations are due by midnight on March 26, 2024. One nominee per category will be sent to the State by April 8. Nominees, recipients, and local awardees will be recognized by WP throughout the year.
The State Employee Recognition Day (Governor’s award ceremony) will be held on May 9 (details to follow).
Nomination Categories: Governor’s Awards:
Innovation and Efficiency recognizes employees who demonstrate a willingness to identify and implement business processes that make services more accessible, link budget decisions and program priorities more closely with program performance to achieve cost savings, generate revenue enhancements, and/or implement more efficient methods of service delivery.
Leadership/Professional Achievement in recognition of an employee who has established a higher standard of work performance by example; demonstrated leadership qualities when presented with challenging assignments; voluntarily used their knowledge and skills to promote work-related development of other employees; contributed to building employee moral; improved work processes, procedures; encouraged initiative and forward thinking; has successfully established new and outstanding methods, practices, plans or designs resulting in cost savings, revenue generation, and/or workplace efficiencies.
NJ Award for Heroism recognizes an employee who was selfless at saving someone who was in a life-threatening situation. This person must have gone above and beyond the call of duty to NJ Citizens.
Governor’s Team of Excellence Award recognizes and individual that has demonstrated a commitment to public service by leading by example and helping the Governor meet his mission to make New Jersey a fairer and stronger place to live and work.
Community Service Award may be made to employees who have made outstanding contributions to the communities in which they live or to the State through organizational activities outside the workplace.
WHO CAN BE NOMINATED?
Any William Paterson employee may nominate another William Paterson employee or group of employees for a significant accomplishment. Nominated employees or group of employees must be most deserving and represent the full description of the award category. Employees may not nominate themselves or their direct supervisor.
HOW DO I SUBMIT A NOMINATION?
Nominations must be submitted via this link SERD Nomination form by midnight on March 26, 2024.
All award nominations must include appropriate background information supporting the nomination, such as certificates of achievement and letters of commendation. Please upload any pertinent documentation to the online nomination form – available at the bottom of the form. Describe how the accomplishment was achieved, list any challenges, barriers or obstacles encountered and how they were overcome, and what benefits resulted from the effort. The nomination should describe the specific and measurable impact that the nominee’s accomplishment(s) had in the department, the division, the University, and/or the citizens of our state.
