Important: Upcoming Changes to WP Employee Login Experience (week of February 17th)

Information Technology will be updating the way that WP employee accounts login to various WP systems including Microsoft 365 tools (Outlook, Office desktop and web-based apps, Teams, OneDrive, all Microsoft mobile apps including the Outlook mobile app and more) as well as the Workday system (webpage and mobile app).

This change will take place during the week of February 17th.  To make the transition as smooth as possible, we will be switching all employees to the updated login method in several large groups throughout the course of the week. Individual accounts will not be scheduled, and employees can expect they will see the change occur during the week of 2/17. If you would prefer to have your account switched prior to the week of February 17th, please contact the Helpdesk to request that.

We're highlighting some important notes to be aware of for once the change is made to your account:

  • You will be automatically signed out (any of the applications listed above) and will be prompted to re-login/reauthenticate your account. This will include any mobile apps you are signed into (WP email, Office apps). The need to login in again is expected and part of this transition.
  • When signing in after the change, you will no longer be redirected to the orange and black themed login page (adfs.wpunj.edu). The login will be completed through a Microsoft login page (login.microsoftonline.com) with the William Paterson logo.
  • The Duo prompt that displays after you enter your username and password will look slightly different. More information on that is shared below.
  • This change will allow for more ‘persistent’ logins, meaning less time spent logging in or authenticating with Duo. Related to that, please take note to not click ‘Keep Me Signed In’ on computers or devices that are shared with other individuals, as that will keep your account logged in on that device.
  • The WPconnect login page (also known as Shibboleth) will stay the same for the time being, though IT will be transitioning various systems over to the Microsoft-style login during the coming months.

We have put together an ITwiki article to highlight the changes, including screencaps of what to expect with this change, at https://itwiki.wpunj.edu/index.php/Duo_Universal_Prompt.

Should you have any questions or need help, please feel free to create a ticket at wpunj.edu/helpdesk or call us at (973) 720-4357.

Thank you.
