Sunday at Jazz Room: John Pizzarelli presents "Dear Mr. Bennett"

Event Location: Shea Center for Performing Arts
Event Date & Time: Sunday March 29, 2026 02:00 PM - 05:00 PM

Grammy-winning producer, guitarist and vocalist John Pizzarelli celebrates the centennial of iconic singer Tony Bennett with a heartfelt tribute concert and title of his new album, Dear Mr. Bennett, which released today via Green Hill Music. For John, Tony Bennett was more than simply an influence. Pizzarelli’s late father, the revered guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, was a frequent sideman for the legendary singer, appearing on albums including To My Wonderful One and I’ve Gotta Be Me. John got his own opportunity to accompany Bennett for a radio broadcast. The admiration was mutual – Bennett could be found in the audience for a number of Pizzarelli’s performances. Dear Mr. Bennett is on the one hand a loving farewell to a profoundly influential musician who meant so much to so many. At the same time, it’s a spirited celebration.

Pizzarelli’s trio, featuring bassist Mike Karn and pianist Isaiah J. Thompson, has established a brilliant chemistry over the last six years. Together, they will perform timeless songs made famous by Tony Bennett. Dear Mr. Bennett finds the trio in dazzling form, equally adept at scintillating jazz and radiant pop.

Sittin' In Meet-the-Artist session takes place one hour prior to the concert at 2PM in Shea 101 Recital Hall. Concert begins at 3PM.
