• ECON 2010 MACROECONOMIC PRINCIPLES

    The course is designed to introduce students to the basic concepts of macroeconomic analysis.  Emphasis will be placed on examining production, expenditure, employment, unemployment, and prices for the overall economy.  Students will develop an understanding of the behavior of consumers, investors, and governments and their impact on aggregate demand and production.  Students will learn different macroeconomic models and their underlying hypotheses.  Discussions will cover the impacts of economic policies including monetary, fiscal, and trade on the overall economy under alternative assumptions and frameworks.  While the course will cover the US. economy, it will also explore economic growth in other developed and less developed countries.  UCC Area G (Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Behavioral & Social Sciences) Course Objectives: Explore and engage in processes, techniques, and strategies that foster curiosity, promote inquiry, and yield well-reasoned conclusions and solutions concerning humans and the world they live in.
