Project Employee, Reading and Math Facilitator

William Paterson University has positions available for part time Reading and Math Facilitators in Academic Foundations.
 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conducts regular assessments of student performance and maintains up to date records of student progress and attendance
  • Instruction including hands on and theory, classroom management, and administrative tasks that may include reports, syllabus and lesson plan development.
  • Conducts regular assessments of student performance and maintains up to date records of student progress and activities; track trends in usage, prepare various reports
  • Ensure that course is taught in accordance with the established syllabi, while following all established deadlines.
  • Experience using multiple approaches to teaching and learning, such as incorporating technology, contextualized instruction, multiple levels, or innovative approaches that support increased student success
  • Skilled in use of technology (interactive lessons, online and hybrid formats, course software such as Blackboard, GoTo Meeting, EdReady etc.) to deliver quality instruction
  • Provide appropriate referrals to Director, student support services and other university resources as necessary to help students achieve their academic goals
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Must have a sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, special needs, and ethnic backgrounds of college students.
  • Must be available during Fall and Spring semester Monday-Friday, as classes will be offered between 9:00am-5:15pm

Reading Facilitator Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in English, Language Arts, Literature, or a related discipline. Education or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have experience teaching developmental reading and writing at the secondary or post-secondary; and demonstrates a working knowledge of methods, materials, and techniques used to deliver basic reading, writing concepts, and research (i.e. grammar, writing, vocabulary). Teaching experience in a community college setting is preferred, and experience with online instruction preferred. Strong computer skills are required due to intensive use of an online reading course management system. Must be able to work onsite and online if required.

 

Math Facilitator Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
     
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have experience teaching developmental mathematics at the secondary or post-secondary. Teaching experience in a community college setting is preferred, and experience with online instruction preferred. Strong computer skills are required due to intensive use of an online mathematics course management system. Must be able to work onsite and online if required.
