William Paterson University’s Department of Special Education and Counseling invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor to begin no later than Fall 2018.

A doctorate in special education or related field in education with experience in assessment and instructional management is required. A candidate selected for the position who is able to start at mid-year (January 2018) will be required to have a terminal degree in hand at time of appointment.  ABD candidates will be considered for a Fall 2018 start at the rank of Instructor (if hired, however, the candidate must have completed his/her doctoral degree requirements by the time of review for reappointment to a second year).

Requirements also include experience in inclusive education practices in P-12 classrooms; expertise in educational programming for students with special needs; preparation and/or experience suitable for teaching a range of courses in special education and willingness to teach in both online and face to face formats; eligibility for NJ Endorsement as Teacher of Students with Disabilities; evidence of prior scholarship or potential for scholarship and research; knowledge of national and state curricular standards and assessments; and commitment to educating diverse learners and fostering multicultural and global perspectives. This position also requires service to the department, college, university and community. Desired qualifications include evidence of active participation in professional organizations; participation in accreditation reporting and/or review processes; and experience in seeking/obtaining external funding.
