William Paterson University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Sociology to start Fall 2018.  All areas of specialization in criminology and criminal justice will be considered depending on department need, with preference for candidates who specialize in areas not already supported by existing faculty expertise in the department (these areas include corrections, victimology, intimate partner violence, and the sociology of law).

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, to pursuing an active research agenda, and to service to the department and the campus community.  The successful candidate will also be able and willing to teach courses in research methods and/or data analysis.

A Ph.D. in Sociology, Criminology, or Criminal Justice, is required.  A J.D. is not an appropriate terminal degree for this position.  Advanced ABD candidates who meet all other criteria may be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor; the degree must, however, be completed by time of review for reappointment to a second year in early 2019.
