William Paterson University invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Department of Sociology to start Fall 2018.

The department houses undergraduate majors in both Sociology and Criminology and Criminal Justice as well as a master’s program in Applied Sociology.  The position will primarily serve the Criminology and Criminal Justice program.  All areas of specialization in criminology and criminal justice will be considered depending on department needs, with strong preference for research and teaching experience in areas of white-collar crime or law enforcement.  Program and/or internship supervision experience preferred.

Position will require teaching, developing, and assessing a range of courses in the major and the ability to teach Research Methods and/or Data Analysis. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, to pursuing an active research agenda, and to being engaged in service to the program, the department, and the campus community.

A Ph.D. in Sociology, Criminology, or Criminal Justice is strongly preferred. Advanced ABD candidates who meet all other criteria may be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor. A J.D. is not an appropriate terminal degree for this position.
