Collections Manager, Student Accounts

Under the supervison of both the Director and Assistant Director of Student Accounts, this position is responsible for facilitating the timely collection of delinquent student accounts. This position monitors and facilitates problem resolutions in a positive manner for all in-house collection accounts prior to assigning to an outside collection agency, maintains up-to-date knowledge of the University systems and has the ability to understand and apply collection policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: uses reports to analyze and identify delinquent accounts; negotiates and executes promissory notes when circumstances warrant; performs due diligence collection efforts for students; works with various university departments and personnel to resolve issues and recommend appropriate solutions. S/he ensures University compliance with all regulations governing collection practices; reviews monthly accounts receivable balances as well as develops and implements trend reporting. In addition, uses professional judgment and other criteria to process outstanding balance and collection holds and determines transcript eligibility. S/he prepares reports of varied complexity as required.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or business or graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree, including or supplemented by twenty-one (2l) semester credit hours in professional accounting courses is required. Three (3) years of professional experience in collections or other related business experience including recommending and implementing new or updating existing policies and procedures, collection contracts and improving and updating accounts receivable collection practices.
The selected candidate must possess experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System. Knowledge of Ellucian/Banner software for higher education is preferred. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office is required. Candidates will be evaluated in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience in the use of SAS preferred. In addition, must possess demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally; strong critical thinking, analytical and organizational skills as well as accuracy and attention to detail.
