Reporting to the Executive Director of Academic Success Services, the Director of First Year Foundations manages programs and services offered to incoming students during the summer and throughout the academic year to support their academic needs in developmental courses and programs. The Director is primarily responsible for administering the First Year Foundations Program, including but not limited to planning, implementation and assessment of a comprehensive summer program, repeater workshops, academic coaching and other services designed to enhance student skills; creation of academic improvement plans for course repeaters and managing statistical data and reporting outcomes. S/he coordinates student registration; administers the hold process and recruits, hires and trains.

A Master’s degree in a developmental content area of English, Mathematics, or Reading, Higher Ed Administration, Counseling or related discipline is required.

Five (5) years of full-time professional experience in academic administration related to student academic support programs or developmental education is required. Experience in higher education or with developmental math and/or reading is preferred. The selected candidate must possess experience in program development, knowledge of developmental learning theories and current trends in higher education retention strategies as well as the ability to think analytically and critically. Additional requirements include excellent interpersonal, presentation, written and oral communication skills; a demonstrated ability to utilize technology in the delivery and assessment of programs and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse population. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends. Experience using SPSS, Excel or SAS, supervisory experience and working knowledge of Banner student information system is strongly preferred.
