Manina Urgolo Huckvale Professor • Special Education, Professional Counseling and Disability Studies View CV Manina Urgolo Huckvale, Ed.D., is associate professor in the Department of Special Education, Professional Counseling and Disabilities Studies at William Paterson University (WPU). Her expertise is in special education and transitions for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, having recently co-edited and written a book on Autism and Low Incidence Disabilities. Her research interests also include teacher preparation, having written her dissertation on evaluating teacher education graduates on their preparedness to teach. She has served nationally on the Association of Teacher Educators (ATE) Task Force on Field Experience Standards, and is a past president of the New Jersey Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (NJACTE). She is a graduate of Leadership America (2005), a Laureate of the Association of Teacher Educators, and participated in the New England Regional Leadership Forum for Women Administrators, American Council on Education Office of Women in Higher Education.Prior to joining WPU, Dr. Urgolo Huckvale served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Seton Hall University. She also has teaching and administrative experience in urban, suburban and rural communities in both the US and Canada.
