Holly Seplocha

I have worked for over 40 years as a teacher, administrator, university professor, teacher educator, consultant, researcher, presenter, and advocate for children and families. Currently, I teach graduate courses in literacy and language development, and Research I & II. I am also the project director of NJ Center for Quality Ratings, working with the New Jersey Department of Education to design and implement a system for rating the quality of preschool programs across the state. In 2016-17, in addition, I created and oversaw development of the NJ Preschool Classroom Guidelines and three 20-minutes videos to support training on the guidelines. I have brought numerous grants to WPU (totaling over $6 million) and for several years was the project director of the Early Learning Improvement Consortium working with the NJ Department of Education to develop, implement, and train trainers in an authentic assessment system for literacy linked to New Jersey preschool and kindergarten standards. I am an active member of NAEYC serving as a consulting editor for Young Children, and regularly as a featured presenter at NAEYC conferences. In 2013, I was named one of 125 Distinguished Alumni of Wheelock College for their 125th year anniversary. I 2005 I was awarded the NAECTE National Outstanding Teacher Educator of the Year.
