(Grades 3 to 8) Advanced ELA

Advanced ELA

The curriculum for K-12 instruction of reading and writing in ELA English/Language Arts will develop comprehension and writing skills that will be embedded into each daily lesson throughout the instruction time. During this time-frame, the students will work on literary readings to enhance their critical analysis of grade-appropriate literature as well as advanced literary readings. The writing pieces will correlate to the literary reading assignments the students discuss in class to give them the opportunity to delve deeper into essay structure, analysis skills, and literary terminology specific to the reading pieces. Within the classroom, students will work on paired and individual assignments to reflect upon these learned skill-sets. Whole class and small group literary pieces will be selected to embed these skills of reading, writing, speaking, project-based learning, differentiation for each group of learners, and discussion and individual feedback from the teacher. Technology will be infused in the classroom through Google Classroom, CommonLit, Khan Academy, GrammarFlip, Padlet, Blooket, Quizziz, and a variety of other educational websites will be utilized to enhance learning of the reading and writing curriculum in the classroom.
