(Grades 8-12) Personal Finance

Personal Finance


This course will begin to teach students about the basics and importance of personal finance. The initial topics discussed during the first half of the course will be the importance of budgeting, the difference between checking and savings accounts, interest rates, debt, credit cards, and how credit scores are calculated. The second half of the course will introduce students to financial decisions they will start making as college students and then young adults, such as student loans, purchasing an automobile, taxes, investing and diversification, homeownership, social security, and the difference between pensions and other retirement plans.

Open to all students 8th grade and up as these are subjects that impact all of our lives and require an understanding so that we can make the best possible decisions.
