July 5 - July 8 AND July 11 - July 14 (2 weeks): Skill Builder Math (GR 6-8)

In this skill building course, set your middle school student up for success with a toolbox of strategies to help them build a strong mathematical foundation for middle school and beyond. Students who struggled with virtual/hybrid learning will have the opportunity to fill the “gaps” to set them up for success next school year and ready to tackle the more abstract concepts that are taught at the middle school level. Basic skills will be enhanced and expanded to include in depth practice with complex fractions, integers, and exponents. Students will be encouraged to justify their reasoning with multi-step problems using both words and numbers. While working through mathematical challenges, students will develop focus with a growth mindset and learn perseverance when confronted with more complex problems. Participants are encouraged to bring their summer math assignments to complete during the course.

Grade 6-8 Skill Builder Math Learning Outcomes: Strengthen computation skills; justify solutions with numbers, models, and words; develop perseverance to solve multi-step problems.

• July 5 - July 8 (Tue - Fri)
• July 11 - July 14 (Mon - Thur)

 For a total of TWO weeks of class time, 8 days total.
