Birth through Adulthood: An Introduction to the Beginning Stages of Human Development

Human Development Workshop for students in grade 8 through 12

Are you interested in working with children? This workshop will cover the basics of human growth from birth to adulthood. Topics will include social, cognitive, and emotional development during the beginning stages of growth. Participants will learn how to apply these concepts to understand the needs of, and optimally interact with, babies, children, adolescents, and young adults. This workshop is a great fit for anyone who wants to be a teacher, day care-worker, health career professional, and/or childcare/babysitter.

INTRODUCTION TO NEUROBIOLOGY

Have you wondered how the brain works? In this class, we shall explore the functional anatomy as well as the physiology of the nervous system. We will explore how the sensory system functions and how does it helps us to feel and experience the world around us through our senses. We will also study how the nervous system controls the motor system to create intricate body movements for sports and dancing. Lastly, we shall discuss different neurological disorders that may arise when your brain is damaged or malfunctions. Come and explore the infinite possibilities of your brain and nervous system!
