4H Robotics and Principles of Electricity 7/1-7/5/19 (No class 7/4/19)

The program is design to provide essential skills on energy/power, wiring a house and designing robotics.  In Wiring a House activities students will build structures that relate to their own lives and experiences engages youth imagination and offers a medium for all kinds of group work and negotiation. In Wiring a House, youth combine two areas of play—building structures and experimenting with electricity—and, in the process, learn practical rules of electrical wiring and the foundational principles of electricity. Whether they subsequently revisit these topics in formal educational settings or encounter them in their own lives, their experience with this Wiring a House project will provide them with understanding of, knowledge about, and context for this important topic.

In the Recycle-Bots activity students will create and build working robots from almost anything! Transform house hold objects such as plastic bottles and old CDs, wooden spoons or cardboard in to unique, imaginative robots that can be programmed for a variety of functions – and at different levels of skill. Delight in making new shapes come alive, learn the core STEAM concepts of analytical thinking, problem solving, prototyping, lateral thinking and building.
