Saturday Reading and Writing Program 

Grades 3-4

Session I- Reading: 9:00am-11:00am

This Saturday enrichment program for reading is designed to enhance each student's reading skills. The class is segmented into mini lessons that focus upon close reading techniques for short reading passages and novel excerpts. Each student engages in reading the text with the teacher, their peers, and independently. Learning vocabulary, understanding context, and discussing the main idea and theme of each reading assignment will be demonstrated and practiced throughout each Saturday session. Each classroom activity is differentiated to ensure that each child's learning needs are met and enhanced by the end of this course. Not only will your child benefit from the reading skills they acquire, they will also have the opportunity to demonstrate those skills to the class through a variety of classroom activities! 

Session II Writing: 11:30am-1:30pm

This Saturday enrichment program for writing is designed to enhance each student's writing skills. Each class session is segmented into mini lessons that focus upon writing, editing, and grammar usage. Each student will develop writing pieces for a variety of purposes and edit those written compositions with the use of techniques learned in this class. The teacher will conference with each student to ensure that their writing is being developed to the best of their ability. The students in this class will be able to use the writing and editing skills they develop throughout the school year. Not only will your child benefit from the writing skills they acquire, but they will also have the opportunity to demonstrate those skills through a variety of classroom activities!
