August 2-5: How To Write Science Fiction and Fantasy Part 2, Gr. 8-12

"Do you find it hard to start (or end) a story? Not sure how to make your characters more real? Are they "Mary Sues?" Do you see your fantasy or science fiction world very clearly in your head, but can't get it onto the page? How do you get your readers to care as much about your story as you do?

This workshop can help. Students who have taken the first 'How To Write Science Fiction and Fantasy' course will now be able to enjoy a Milford-style workshop, a hands-on experience. Students will bring copies of their work to distribute to classmates and the instructor. The instructor will share real-life examples for students to learn from. Students will revise and resubmit work by the final day. These techniques work with both short stories and novels. We will also discuss how to submit your work to paying markets, and the pitfalls of the publishing industry.
