Healthcare Pathway - Patient Care Technician Training Program

In the Spring Semester, Passaic Valley will be providing the following pathways for students to earn career certifications through coursework completed at the high school level. Non-credit bearing, these courses are designed to enhance a student’s resume and offer an opportunity for students to gain entry directly into the workforce. Participating students will need to have met their graduation requirements and be able to dedicate two periods in the second half of the year to these certification courses. These courses have been approved by the Board of Education and as a result a small scholarship may be available to help defray the cost of tuition. Additionally, payment plans will be available directly through William Paterson University.

Healthcare Pathway- Patient Care Technician Training Program

Through a comprehensive curriculum taught by University staff, students in the Patient Care Technician Training Program will demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical skills, vital signs, EKG, Phlebotomy, Infection Control, nursing aide in long term care and medical records. Our PCT program is a great way to start a career in the healthcare industry. The PCT performs routine tasks under the supervision of a doctor or a nurse in monitoring the patient's condition and providing basic patient care. This program is a 124-hour program and includes PCT Certification.

Entry Level Career Opportunities include: Patient Care Technician, Hospital Caregiver, Emergency Dept. Technician, Patient Advocate, Burn Technician, Dialysis Technician, ECG Monitoring Technician and Rehabilitation Center Technician.
