Wellness Support Group - You Can’t Pour from An Empty Cup 10/8/20(PDS Schools Only)

Promoting Wellness and Self-Care Among School Counselors, Teachers, and Administrators

Each session will start with a self-care presentation and then lead into a wellness support group lasting four weeks.

  Self-Care Presentation and First Group Meeting  

  Audience: All School Personnel

Description: This experiential workshop will kick-off a series of 4 weekly wellness group sessions. This initial presentation will cover the importance of wellness and self-care for teachers, school counselors, school administrators, and staff. Wellness and self-care will be discussed and applied specifically to school personnel via the Indivisible Self Model of Wellness (Myers & Sweeney, 2004).

Presenters and participants will discuss the value of wellness, as well as ideas to overcome the challenges of practicing wellness on a regular basis. Presenters will incorporate self-care activities throughout the workshop, as well as discuss the necessity of wellness and self-care in professional lives to prevent burnout and compassion fatigue. Attendees will leave the presentation with more knowledge about the importance of wellness, ideas on how to incorporate self-care into their lives, and ideas on how to promote wellness and self-care among others in their schools.
