A Fundamental Instructional Tool for Developing Critical Thinking Skills 10/20/20(PDS Schools Only)

   Audience: Grades 4-12

Description: The average teacher asks about 400 questions each day, yet few teachers plan their questions to be strategic, or to foster higher order thinking.  In this workshop, we will review the different kinds of questions that teachers ask and the cognitive levels that they target.  Ultimately, the most important questions of all are those asked by the students. Towards that end, we will examine the QFT (Question Formulation Technique) and the Harkness Method as possible techniques for developing a culture of inquiry in our classes.
