Engaging Families with Young Children in STEM Learning 10/28/20(PDS Schools Only)

Audience: Preschool Teachers  (Limit 20)

Description: We will explore strategies for early childhood educators to actively engage preschool families in STEM

explorations so parents can become STEM role models in their children’s lives every day. Young children are often

referred to as “natural scientists or engineers” because of their innate curiosity and capability to learn on their own about

the world around them, but they do need adult assistance to guide them and build on their interest to provide rich and

meaningful early STEM experiences. By partnering with the adults in a child’s life, we can help disseminate

developmentally appropriate STEM activities and ensure the development of fundamental skills needed in the

  21st century.
