Understanding Your Strengths and Challenges: Middle School Summer Transition Camp 7/29-8/2/19

This program provides middle school students with IEPs and 504 plans a structured educational experience that will allow them to understand their strengths and challenges in their educational journey.  Students will explore the ingredients of academic success, including perseverance, organization skills, self-advocacy, time management, confidence, positive self-talk, motivation, and relaxation. Students will each develop a success plan to help them start thinking about high school and their future.  In addition, students will receive a copy of The Survival Guide for Kids in Special Education by Wendy L. Moss, PhD and Denise M. Campbell, MS. 

This week-long program will be offered as a half day with 15 hours of total instruction in the mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Parents also have the option to extend into a full-day program by enrolling students in afternoon Summer Youth Academic Enrichment Programs where students will gain academic skills, form new social connections with their peers, and benefit from the support of college students who serve as mentors.

Target Population:

Middle school students (entering grades 6 or 7, as well as recent 8th grade graduates) with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or 504 plans. This program is open enrollment based on fit and availability.

All materials are included with the registration fee.
