Science Engineering Olympiads and Drawing 7/11-7/15/16

Drawing 7/11-7/15/16

The purpose of Drawing is to provide each student with specific drawing media experiences and to build basic perceptual skills in terms of drawing from studio set-ups.  The student will also gain basic knowledge of the elements of art: line, value, shape/volume, texture and (some) color to lead to their deliberate manipulation for different types of spatial illusion, compositions, and expressive meaning.  (all materials included)

Science Engineering Olympiads 7/11-7/15/16

In today's ever technologically advanced world, we are living at the speed of Science and we need to educate our students to be scientifically literate, ready to ask questions to problems, investigate and analyze data, construct explanations & design solutions in order for them to take on the future. As many schools around NJ are getting ready to adopt the new science standards called Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).  We here at WPUNJ would like students to have first-hand experiences with the new standards and we are ready for the challenge! The Next Generation Science Standards gives students the opportunity to utilize the engineering design challenge.  Students are presented a problem and it is their job to figure out a solution.

Science Engineering Olympiads program does much more than test factual knowledge; participants are also engaged in problem solving, laboratory investigations and hands-on activities such as designing and testing mouse trap vehicles, bridges and egg-carrying rockets. Science Engineering Olympiads provides a wealth of learning opportunities throughout the year. Preparing to compete in the various events also provides a vehicle for students to form new friendships and bond as a cohesive team.  Science Engineering Olympiads functions much like a sports team.  The Science Olympiad models the friendly competitive spirit that drives scientific research. It provides an opportunity to demonstrate skills, knowledge and to interact with others who have similar interests.
